About Us

I'm Ashley and besides being The Busy Bea's Mama, I'm also the main writer for our blog. I'm a stay-at-home mom as well as a birth and postpartum doula. I graduated from NC State University with a degree in Chemistry; a degree that will probably never see the light of day again! I like to travel to other countries, read a lot (and I'm a super fast reader, too!), bake for my friends and family, hike and kayak. I happen to be pretty handy with coupons too! Oh, and I love being a mommy. It's the single greatest thing to happen in my life- even when it involves mopping our floors four times a day.

That's Casey, my husband and The Busy Bea's Papa. We met during our freshman year at NC State (yep, he went there too! We're a Wolfpack Family). He's an Energy Engineer for a local university and really loves his job. I'm so thankful for that because it's what enables me to be a stay-at-home-mommy to Bea. Casey loves hiking and kayaking, international travel and reading too; but he also really loves to play musical instruments. He's crazy-good at just picking up something and learning to play it in a few days. I love to watch Bea and him pick and strum their guitars before bed each night. And as if all of this wasn't enough to make him marriage material; he's a Christian to boot! A great man who loves Jesus! What more could I ask for?!?

And then there's The Busy Bea herself, Beatrice Kate. Yep, she's so awesome, she has two first names. If you're reading this blog, you probably know all about Bea considering she's the subject of 99% of our content but in case you're new, start here. She came into our worlds by fire on March 12, 2010 and we haven't looked back since. Bea loves her Daddy, first and foremost, but she also loves: running, making art, building forts, eating weird foods like collards and bell pepper for breakfast, dancing and terrorizing our dogs, Arnold and Cooper. We could not have asked for a more sweet and loving baby; even when shouts just to hear the sound of her own voice, or applies stickers to our hardwood floors.
